The manner in which INFINITI groups and names its vehicles can be a bit confusing, but once you get the idea behind the letter and number abbreviations, it becomes easy to compare these near-luxury vehicles. Both the Q70 and Q60 models are sedans, and the major differences between them are in the areas of horsepower and overall vehicle size. The 2019 INFINITI Q70 is pretty spacious, and it comes with plenty of horsepower. The smaller, easy-handling Q60 is pretty luxurious in its own right, and it will appeal to those who simply want a more standard-size sedan.
Both of these models have seen a few recent changes, but the Q70 carries over from 2018 virtually unchanged. The Q60, on the other hand, sees the departure of two trim levels and a simplification of the others, with the differences being mostly centered on the engine size and the interior design. A more complete comparison between the 2019 Q70 and Q60 follows.
Engine and Performance
The 2019 INFINITI Q70 comes in two distinct trim levels, the 3.7 Luxe and the 5.6 Luxe. The former is powered by a 3.7L V6 rated at 330 horsepower. The latter gets a 5.6L V8. So yeah, you get plenty of power sent to the wheels. Acceleration is great no matter which trim you choose. The 3.7 Luxe gets a seven-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard. The 5.6 Luxe also comes with seven-speed automatic transmission, and both trims can be ordered with all-wheel drive. Although the engines aren’t turbocharged, pressing the pedal to the floor isn’t necessary for immediate engine response. The 2019 INFINITI Q60 can be purchased with one of two engines. The 3.0t Pure and 3.0t Luxe get a turbocharged 3.0L engine that makes 300 horsepower, and the Red Sport comes with a more powerful, 400-horsepower V6. Rear-wheel drive and seven-speed automatic transmission are standard, but you can order all-wheel drive if you wish.
Interior Comfort
The 2019 Q70 is a rather big sedan, and there’s plenty of forward and rear area legroom. The seating positions are very high, so getting in and out is a breeze. If you like the slightly retro-style forward dash and cowl, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Q70 has this design. The control layout is straightforward and friendly, and all of the gauges and dials on the cluster are easy to read. Niceties include a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable and heated front seats. The 2019 Q60 is a bit smaller on the inside, but it boasts numerous materials, giving the cabin a luxurious appearance. Soft-touch surfaces abound, and the front seating area is as spacious as what you’ll experience when you climb aboard the larger Q70 model.
Standard Features and Safety Systems
Both of the 2019 INFINITI Q70 trims come with a no-cost Essentials package that includes a heated steering wheel, a top-down parking camera, parking sensors, and leather upholstery. A Bose sound system is also included. The 8-inch screen display is easy to navigate, and full navigation is standard. The Q60 comes with simulated leather upholstery, but you can go for full leather if you wish. Also standard are Bluetooth, dual screen displays, a six-speaker sound system, and satellite radio. Standard safety features on the 3.0t Luxe include forward collision warning with automatic braking and a rearview camera. Both the Q70 and Q60 can be further enhanced with special safety packages that add on adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and lane centering.
