Designed for the mid-level luxury market, the 2020 INFINITI Q50 has a solid rivalry against the 2020 Genesis G70. Both sedans offer twin-turbocharged engines, but the Q50 is more powerful and dynamic. It also has a lot to offer in the safety department. Controlling more than 10 active safety features, the INFINITI Safety Shield is available in the Q50 model. Read on to see the comparison of the 2020 INFINITI Q50 against the 2020 Genesis G70.
Capabilities
Having a turbocharger with a twin design, the 2020 Q50’s standard 3.0 L engine block produces up to 300 horsepower. Using a water- and air-cooling system, this V6 turbo powertrain cranks out 295 pound-feet of torque. You may also upgrade to a twin-turbo V6 engine that unleashes 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. This high-output propulsion system is cooled by two water pumps. Featuring the GDI design, the 2020 Genesis G70’s 2.0 L turbo engine won’t generate more than 252 hp. Additionally, this model can’t extract more than 365 hp from a 3.3 L V6 powertrain, which is backed up by twin turbochargers. This luxury Genesis model is driven by the SHIFTRONIC transmission that creates up to eight preset gear ratios. Standard in the 2020 Q50, an electronically controlled gearbox offers the Manual Shift Mode and Downshift Rev Matching. Generating seven gear ratios, this high-performance automatic transmission also has the Adaptive Shift Control and Hill Start Assist.
Handling
You can select a rear-wheel drive or the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive for the 2020 Q50. This luxury INFINITI sedan also boasts the all-new Direct Adaptive Steering, which smoothly transfers power to the wheels based on critical mechanical metrics. You’ll also enjoy the benefits of the Digital Suspension System, which responds to the surface of the highway in real time. The Drive Mode Selector gives you the freedom to select an optimum driving setting for this premium INFINITI sedan. If you want to maximize fuel economy on the highway, use the Eco Pedal. Equipped with the Brembo brakes and Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control, the 2020 G70 also offers a sporty ride on dry roads. However, this Genesis model can’t match the Q50’s Active Trace Control, which calibrates the brakes, steering and powertrain as necessary.
Safety
The Intelligent Cruise Control lets you enjoy a smooth commute in the 2020 Q50. Featuring the Full-Speed Range technology, the ICC automatically increases or decreases your speed in response to traffic progression. This high-end INFINITI sedan also offers the Distance Control Assist, which releases the throttle and adjusts the brakes. When you shift the gearbox into reverse, the Backup Collision Intervention is ready to respond to any hazards. You’ll also notice other potential obstacles on the Around View Monitor, which has Moving Object Detection. The 2020 Q50 boasts other innovative driving aides, such as the Blind Spot Intervention and Lane Departure Prevention. Despite having the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and other accident-avoidance features, the 2020 G70 simply doesn’t match the INFINITI Safety Shield technology.
