Luxury sedans don’t comprise a limited vehicle class. In fact, there are plenty of models from which to choose, and some automakers focus on perhaps two or three luxury features while leaving out others. INFINITI attracts a wide audience with their two flagship sedan models, the Q50 and Q70. The latter is a bit bigger than the Q50 and will interest those seeking a full-size luxury transport. Both models offer plenty of interior space for passengers, however, and high-tech amenities are up-to-date.
The 2019 INFINITI Q50 now comes with more standard safety features than in past years. The Q70 packs quite a punch with its available V8 engine. Below, similarities and differences between the two models are detailed, and this will help buyers decide which one is calling their name.
Performance
The 2019 INFINITI Q50 carries over basically unchanged from the previous year, but that’s okay when the powertrain is considered. The 2.0t Pure model comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder good for 208 horsepower. The 3.0t Luxe and Sport versions get a 3.0L engine that makes 300 horsepower. The RED SPORT 400 has a more powerful V6 rated at 400 horsepower. All of the Q50 models come with seven-speed shiftable automatic transmission. Buyers can choose from one of two engines on the 2019 Q70. The first is a 3.7L V6 that produces 330 horsepower. The latter is a 5.6L V8 rated at 420 horsepower. The Q70 comes with standard rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is an option regardless of engine. Both models feature great acceleration, and both handle quite well at high speed.
Interior Comfort
INFINITI models are known for their spacious interiors. The 2019 Q50 is a mid-size, but passengers can stretch out and relax in comfort. The cabin is well-constructed, and the materials quality is far above average. The front seats are huge but not overly cushioned, and the rear seating area provides plenty of legroom. Standard features include power-adjustable front seats, simulated leather upholstery, automatic dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, and maple wood interior accents. The RED SPORT 400 adds on leather upholstery, custom stitching accents, transmission paddle shifters, and a heated steering wheel. The 2019 Q70 boasts a very spacious interior and can seat three adults in the rear seating area with ease. It comes with a sunroof and power-adjustable and heated front seats as standard. Leather upholstery is included as well. There’s only a single trim, and the model version names merely reflect the engine choice.
High Tech and Safety Features
The 2019 INFINITI Q50 comes with standard Bluetooth, a rearview camera, dual screen displays, and a six-speaker sound system. The uplevel versions add on full navigations. Standard safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The RED SPORT 400 adds on a top-down camera, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring. A premium Bose audio system is available. The Q70 comes with the same Bose stereo system and boasts a total of 10 speakers. It also has satellite radio, navigation, USB connectivity, and auxiliary audio inputs. Safety features on the Q70 include stability control, emergency brake assist, a rearview camera, a top-down camera, and rear parking sensors. The ProActive package adds on forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning.
